Summer Stories

August is fully engaged, and the garden is producing all manner of vegetables. The colors are beautiful. Peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers blend well with the sunflowers. This is why it seems so odd to be writing a Christmas drama. The who-done-it interactive mystery is well underway, and I’m putting all the clues together. Fun to write.

Hope everyone is having a great summer. Stay warm. 🙂

Patience Needed

Time is moving slowly as I work on a new website. There have been a few bumps along the way. It also means that I haven’t been working much on this site. I’m sorry for the delay. I have been writing, however, and keeping busy.

Currently, I just finished a mystery interactive theater script that will be used this Christmas. It was not only fun to write, but exciting to see it come together on the stage. I will keep you informed on how the performance is received.

Pray about the new website. I would love to have it up and running before the end of the years. As always, may God bless each of you.

Hugs,
Beth

Happy July

I’ve been a bit behind in my writing. It’s been a busy spring and summer. It won’t be long until I begin work on my new website. Most of my last few months have been spent developing another website for another Christian organization. Trust me, I had a huge learning curve during the process. Working on this website should be a little easier. Right??? I can hope.

Vacation Bible School begins soon. The excited is building with the children and workers alike. It’s one of my favorite ministries. I’m also working on a Christmas dessert theater. This is a great project…one I haven’t tried before. This is different than writing a traditional drama. Another work in progress. It’s also like having Christmas in July. I will keep you posted.

Some have asked if I plan to write any more books in the Bay Island series. I would love to…but I think there has been too much time since the last book was written to interest my publisher. There are, however, two other manuscripts that I’m currently working on that are a lot of fun.

Hope everyone is having a great summer. Keep in touch.

Hugs,
Beth

Changes and More Changes

Welcome to spring. Spring means change…ones that I like. Time for warm weather, sunshine, softball, gardening, and camping. It also finds me in the midst of change. I’m helping to make changes in an organization I work with. One change: new website. Developing a website from the bottom up has been informative and interesting. When that website is complete, I’ll be doing the same for this website.

Exciting, huh? Yes, it is. It’s cutting into my writing time, but this is where God has put me. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Until then, keep look towards the Son. 🙂

Winter Grand Ball

Dressing the part of a Civil War era lady in a ball gown is like a dream come true…especially for this writer. It’s like being sent back in time. Although I write contemporary novels, I do love history, and dressing the part makes it seem almost real. Writing is like that. I have to “be” my character when I write so that I can understand what motivates the heroine or hero to do what they do. It can be exhausting when the character is going through hard times. The writer has to go through those hard times with their heroine.

I have been extremely busy with the Maternity Resource Center that operates close to my home. It’s been such a blessing to be part of this ministry that helps mothers and children in need. God is good! He has seen that needs have been met in several areas. Over 8 women came to know Christ last year through the MRC.

In other news, it’s been very wintery in Ohio. Quite normal for this time of year, but I’m suffering from “sticker shock” after last year’s warm weather. The snow has been beautiful…when I’m not driving in it. I’m hoping spring will be early since some of the robins have already come back. Maybe they are directionally challenged. I’m hoping they know something we don’t.

Hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying God’s bounty.

Beth

Merry Christmas 2012

I’m wishing all of you a Merry Christmas. There is plenty to be thankful for even during a time of national unrest and devastating disasters that have affected our country. After all the gifts were unwrapped today and the dinner is now cooking in the oven, I am reminded that this season is about the greatest gift…Jesus. It’s all about God giving us a life with Him beyond this world.

May God bless you in 2013. 🙂

Ohio Statehouse Fun

It’s like stepping back into time the minute I put the Civil War era dress on. The petticoat poofs out the skirt and I walk upright. Standing in the Rotunda of the Ohio Statehouse as a mourner over the casket of President Lincoln brings on a real sense of what it must have been like when the event actually happened.

My husband guards the casket just like they did almost 150 years ago. My youngest daughter mourns with me. This was part of the Haunted Statehouse tours this year. There’s nothing really too scary at the Statehouse, but people love to hear stories about the historical happenings at the Statehouse. The tours were full each night. What fun!

In other news, I’m still in recovery mode for the knee. It’s coming along slowly….but forward. That’s always good. Hope to be able do some serious writing soon.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the picture.

Progressing Forward

Ah….some cooler weather has arrived. It’s rained more in the past week than it has for two months. Fall will be spectacular. I hope to be able to take a long (or maybe a “longer”) walk with my new knee. The leg is progressing forward very slowly. But it is going forward. That’s the core of my positive thinking. God has been good to me as I go through this. I’ve met some really neat people at the rehab center in July and now, at the outpatient physical therapy department.

I’ve also been reading. It’s good to replace some of the creative juices that has felt very limited. The mystery books have been especially good. I’m up to season 7 of Murder She Wrote. I want to watch the entire line-up. There is less time, however, than I thought there would be. Exercise and the fact that everything takes me twice as long to do, has whittled down the spare time. But I will finish. 🙂

Hope everyone is having a wonder summer’s end. Take care.

Beth

Back in the Saddle Again

When Dorothy said there was “no place like home”, she knew what she was talking about. After a hospital stay and 2 weeks in rehab, it’s great to be home. The knee replacement went well (at least that’s what the doctors say) and I’m hobbling along with the help of the walker. Thanks for all the prayers and support.

I had a chance to read several books while in rehab. That always gets me excited for my own writing. Next week, I’ll begin spending an allotted amount of time working on my next WIP.

It has been one hot summer and I can’t wait to start camping again in the fall…..it’s the only thing getting me through these painful exercises. I have to be able to get into the camper, right?

Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Hugs,
Beth

It’s Time

It’s time for knee replacement surgery. I will be out of commission for a few weeks, but will be checking e-mail from time to time. Probably won’t get any writing done, but plan to read to my heart’s content.

I will post as soon as I can. Thanks for all the prayers. Take care.
