Happy Memorial Weekend
Memorial Day (and weekend) is a special holiday for us to remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms. In my hand is a dog tag my father had during WWII while serving in the Pacific Theater. He never talked about the war, although I remember many nights when he awoke crying out from a nightmare. I knew it was a war-time nightmare.
During that war, they didn’t talk much about post traumatic syndrome or the emotional toll our service men and women gave. They just gave. I appreciate their sacrifice then and I am so thankful for those who have served since. They are true heroes.
My father has been gone for almost five years. I wish he was here for me to tell him again how much I love him. He’s still my hero.
Let some service man or woman know how much you appreciate them. Be safe this weekend and enjoy the freedoms so many fought for.
