Big Band Party

It was a wonderful evening of fun and entertainment. What can I say! Joined by family and friends, the “Swing Machine” brought their Big Band era music to life. Over two hours of toe-tapping favorites like, “In the Mood”, “Moonlight Serenade”, and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. Several Veterans were in attendance and had a great time.

You’re probably wondering how I landed a 17-Piece band for a private party…just for the sake of having a party. No, I’m not independently wealthly. Last spring, I bid on a 5-piece band during the “Auction 34″ local PBS event….and I won. Then a member of the band made an proposition I couldn’t refuse; he offered the entire 17-member band for the same price. It was gift from heaven.

When I bid on the band my husband asked me what in the world I had in mind. Who knew? I walked around for days telling people that I had a band coming. I didn’t know when or how, but I did have a band. Originally, I had hoped to have a summer party where my father could have fun remembering those post WWII songs he loved. God called him in June and he was truly missed, but I’m hoping he was allowed to listen in….at least for a little while.

So, we had the party on November 11th…Veteran’s Day. It was a casual affair with chili and sandwiches for food. All the food was beyond delicious. Thanks to all those who came and made the precious evening possible. I’ll never forget the fun…although my back, knees, and misused muscles are reminding me today.  :-)

Check out the photo section under the “Personal” album to catch a glimpse of the evening.

Love as Always,

Beth
