Life Goes On!
Deep appreciation and a great big hug to all of you for your prayers, kind e-mails, cards and calls. You’ll never know how much it meant to me. My father’s promotion to Heaven was difficult and joyous at the same time. Let me share with you the power of our loving God. My earthly father had claimed to know Christ since he was a child, but he was never one to talk about the things of God or go to church. Somehow, he said, he had a ‘deal’ with God. Most of us realize that we don’t make deals with God. Needless to say, I’ve always been burden for my father to know Christ personally. That happened a week before he died!
Two pastors from my sister’s church took turns visiting my dad everyday for six weeks while he was in the hospital and eventually Hospice Care. During that time, they talked with him about God and what it meant to have a personal relationship with Him. These pastors were able to reach my Dad’s heart in a way that I had previously not been able. Frankly, I never cared “who” the person reaching my dad would be since God receives all the glory anyway. Right!!! It made his dying much more tolerable. Never give up on the ones you love. God is truly merciful.
Now I’ll have to tell you about my mid-July week as camp nurse. God graciously gave me another nurse to work with—and with nearly 200 kids the help was very much needed. Terri Phillips was great to work with and was a wonderful encourager. We weathered quite a few serious medical problems that God saw fit to give us wisdom. It was a tremendous week spiritually for the campers. Be sure to look at the photo gallery to catch a glimpse of the week.
May God shine on you with His mercy this week.
Love ya,
Beth
